Sustainable Fishing

More and more, we all need to do what we can to take good care of the environment – to do the right thing for our planet. At King Oscar, we know the best seafood comes from the healthiest oceans. So we are committed to the most forward-looking and rigorous sustainability efforts. All because a cleaner, greener planet means a happier, healthier you.

True to our Norwegian heritage, King Oscar has long been committed to protecting and enhancing our fishing grounds and taking only what the seas can support. In fact, Norway tops the FAO’s list of responsible fisheries.

We trade solely with approved suppliers and local fishermen with full traceability. Our catches are backed by catch certificates covering vessels and catch areas. And we adhere to quotas set by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, based on leading marine science.

As always, we take a firm stance against illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing, wasteful discards, and irresponsible by-catches. In fact, our catches must meet the toughest industry standards – as well as our own more stringent ones.

Our commitment doesn’t stop with quotas. Our sustainable harvesting efforts are directed at the entire chain – from the health of the fisheries and our safe catch methods to smart processing and storage, all the way through recyclable, BPA-NI certified packaging and regulated export. King Oscar wants to be part of comprehensive, eco-friendly solutions. Now and for generations to come.
