The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 – S.B. 657

The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act (the “TSCA”) requires certain companies in California to publicly disclose their efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from their direct supply chain for goods offered for sale.

King Oscar products are managed and distributed by Tri-Union Seafoods LLC, the USA operations of our parent company, Thai Union Group PLC. This Supply Chain Transparency Disclosure is provided by Tri-Union Seafoods LLC (Tri-Union) as the responsible entity.

ETHICS & ACCOUNTABILITY

Tri-Union stands unequivocally against human trafficking and slavery and resolutely values fair labor laws and human rights. This position is maintained and enforced within the company’s in-house production facilities, as well as the operations of a select group of private manufacturers who commit to honoring our internal standards.

As such, our organization upholds and promotes the accountability and transparency of ethical procurement standards throughout our direct supply chain according to our Supplier Code of Conduct. This policy applies not only to the sourcing of raw materials, fisheries, and ingredients, but also the full production and manufacturing process, including packaging.

The Code of Conduct prohibits any human trafficking or human rights abuses anywhere in our supply chain. It also protects any individuals or groups who may file a grievance or whistleblower complaint.

MONITORING & VERIFICATION

Our direct suppliers are required to acknowledge our Code of Conduct in writing and adhere to it, subject to robust onsite monitoring and verification, as well as an independent auditing program that evaluates and documents suppliers in the areas of labor, human rights, environmental responsibility, health, and safety. Our direct suppliers are further required to ensure that their second- and third-tier suppliers operate in compliance.

While non-compliance can result in citation and termination, our assurance strategy follows a Performance Improvement Program (PIP) approach that provides suppliers with ongoing support, labor and human rights guidance, and capacity-building – along with tools to facilitate effective remediation.

TRAINING & EMPOWERMENT

Internally, all Tri-Union executive management and relevant procurement team members are required to undertake a training course on Human Trafficking and Slavery Risks, designed to help participants identify violations and to take appropriate action.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Tri-Union is committed to a supply chain where empowered workers are employed freely and legally, assured of their fundamental rights and safety. We seek to continuously improve our entire product supply chain and to reduce our overall impact on the environment and society – Planet and People.
