Ingredients

  • 1 can King Oscar Skinless & Boneless Sardines Spanish Style, oil reserved  
  • 2 cups chopped kale 
  • 2 tbsp olive oil 
  • 2 cups romaine lettuce (chopped or whole leaves) 
  • 1 cup croutons 
  • 1 large avocado, cubed 
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese 
  • Black pepper, to personal taste 

 

For the Caesar Dressing: Make our homemade classic Caesar dressing recipe or use your favorite bottled dressing 

Spanish-style sardines over massaged kale and crisp romaine with creamy Caesar dressing, croutons, cubed avocado, and parmesan for a heartier take on a classic.

Instructions

  1. To tenderize or soften the kale leaves: Add kale to a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Gently rub or massage the oil into the kale leaves.
  2. On serving plates, divide the lettuce and kale. 
  3. Add the croutons, avocado, sardines, and vegetables from the sardine can. 
  4. Top with Caesar dressing and black pepper. 
  5. For additional flavor, drizzle some of the reserved sardine oil over the salad. Or save the reserved oil as a dipping oil for the croutons or bread.
