Ingredients

  • 1 can King Oscar Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 cup softened cream cheese, cottage cheese, or ricotta cheese 
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • 1/4 cup chopped roasted peppers
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tbsp minced red onion
  • 1/4 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • Lemon zest, for serving
  • Optional for serving: crushed red chili flakes, vegetables, lemon wedges, crackers, bread

Sardines blended into a creamy, herb-flecked dip with lemon, capers, roasted peppers, and smoked paprika. Ready in 15 minutes and equally good with crackers, bread, or fresh vegetables.

Instructions

 

  1. In a bowl mix together the oil from the sardine can, softened cream cheese or cottage cheese or ricotta, lemon juice, capers, chopped roasted peppers, parsley, thyme, red onion, salt, and smoked paprika until smooth. 
  2. Optional, reserve 2 sardines to garnish dip for serving. Mix in the remaining sardine to the dip, stirring until the sardines are to your desired texture. 
  3. Top with the reserved sardines, if using, and optional red chili flakes. Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve. 
  4. If chilled, bring out to room temperature about 30 minutes before serving for best texture. Serve with vegetables, lemon wedges, crackers, and/or bread.
